What to expect when adopting a Golden Retriever puppy

It's important to understand the commitment that dog ownership entails. Adopting a dog isn't just a privilege; it's a responsibility. Here's what the American Kennel Club recommends for taking care of Goldens.
Before applying, please understand what's expected of you to be a good dog owner.
Health
Golden Retrievers are considered to be healthy dogs overall. Be sure to check their ears weekly for infections and to brush their teeth often.
How our adoption process works.
STEP 1
Research Breed
Find out if a golden retriever is the dog for you. Finding a breed that will fit into YOUR lifestyle is important in ensuring the success of a puppy in your home.
STEP 2
Find a Litter
Find an upcoming or current litter that will match your family’s timing and scheduling needs. All adopters should prepare to take their new puppy home at 8 weeks of age. With that being said, make sure that your schedule is clear and you will have adequate time to prepare your household once a litter is announced.
STEP 3
Fill Out the Application
We want to make sure all of our pet parents are qualified to happy a puppy in their home. As responsible breeders we make sure we are matching the right puppies with the right families and we use your puppy application to help guide this process.
STEP 4
Reserve Puppy Pick
Reserve your puppy pick with a reservation fee. This reservation fee is non-refundable but transferable to another litter. The order of deposit will determine the order of pick in the litter.
STEP 5
Prepare your Home
If you’ve never had a puppy before, you should stock up on essential items for puppyhood. We have curated a list of top items puppy pet parents should get in preparation for their bundle of joy.
STEP 6
Gotcha! Day
The most exciting day out of this entire process! This is the day you pick up your puppy. If you’re planning on taking a road trip or transporting your puppy, review out Gotcha Day Protocol for more information.
